Moses Compaan wins in a playoff, Macy Pate wins girls title

Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021- After a marathon playoff, Moses Compaan birdied the fifth extra hole to defeat Evan Woosley-Reed for the Vaughn Taylor Championship.

Compaan, from Jacksonville, Fl., shot a final round 74 while Woosley-Reed shot a 73, including a clutch birdie on 18 to force the playoff.  Both continued to make par on the 18th hole til Compaan buried a birdie putt for the victory. This was his first AJGA title as he broke down with emotion after the victory.

There was no drama on the girls side as Pate started the day with a big lead and was able to win by six shots over Maelynn Kim.

Pate shot a one over (73) and finished the tournament -7. While she didn’t play her best, the win comes on the heels of a high school round where she shot an amazing 57. She credited that effort in giving the confidence in her game to win the title Sunday.

Kim, the first round leader, shot 74 on Sunday and finished -1.
