Oct. 15, 2021-Lucas Acevedo fired a first round -4 (68) to grab the opening round lead of the Vaughn Taylor Championship. Acevedo, who got into the field from the qualifying event, made five birdies on the day and has a one shot lead.

Cy Norman, Moses Compaan and Blake Heariques are tied for second one shot off the lead.

For the girls, Maelynn Kim was the story of the day making nine birdies and finishing -7 after day one. Kim, from Texas, bogeyed her fourth hole of the day before the birdie barrage would commence. She has a three shot lead over Macy Pate of North Carolina and five shot advantage over Angela Zhang. Only two other girls finished the day even par or better.

The opening round at Mount Vintage Golf Course in North Augusta, SC, had a 50 minute fog delay.

Round two is scheduled to start Saturday morning at 8 A.M.
