Round one features solo leaders for both the boys and girls divisions

With 18 holes now complete, there is a single leader in both the boys and girls division. For the boys, it’s Sahish Reddy of Duluth, Georgia on top of the leaderboard while Lucy Yuan of San Diego, California on top for the girls.

Reddy went out and fired a sizzling -5 (66) at Batram Trail Golf Club. His round featured six birdies and just a single bogey on his scorecard. He has a one shot lead over Jameson Corbin who wrapped up his day at -4. Corbin also had six birdies, but a double bogey on the fifth hole kept him from being on top of the leaderboard.  Will Gordon and Cooper Smith sit two shots back at -3.

Gordon is coming off a first place finish a week ago at the AJGA Junior at Hot Springs event in just his third AJGA start.

All told, there are 12 golfers at even par or better.

Yuan fired a -4 (67) for the girls and has a two shot lead over the rest of the field. Highlighting her round was an eagle and four birdies to go along with a pair of bogeys. Yuan is currently ranked 31 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and has posted a pair of runner-up finishes her last two times out. She does have one win on the AJGA circuit, coming last July.

Sophia DiPaolo finished with a -2 (69) which was highlighted with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to move her into second place by herself. She also had three other birdies on the day to go along with three bogeys.

Victoriah Kuranga from Nigeria and Arenui Faana both posted scores of -1.

There are 12 girls who were even par or better after the opening round.

Round two is slated to start play at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning and once again they will use split tees.
