Long delays and a new boy’s leader highlights round two of the Vaughn Taylor Championship

Wed. June 14, 2023 – Many golfers had to endure two long weather delays, but it was Will Gordon from Hot Springs, Arkansas providing the most thunder as he surged to the lead in the boy’s division as they will head into Thursday’s final round.

Gordon fired a -4 (68) and now sits at -7 with one round remaining. It was a pretty clean scorecard as Gordon registered five birdies and a single bogey as he now has a one-shot lead on first round leader Shahish Reddy. Reddy fired a 70 today and remains firmly in the mix. Cooper Smith (-4), Ryan Nichols (-3) and Jameson Corbin (-2) round out the top five.

On the girl’s side, Lucy Yuan from California backed up her opening round 67 with an even par 71 today and is -4 for the tournament. Yuan owns a four shot lead Julia Herzberg and Arenui Faana, who both sit at even par for the championship.

It didn’t come easy for Yuan who had four birdies and four bogeys on the round, but with nobody able to mount a challenge, she was able to stay steadfast with a four-shot lead.

With all the golfers completing play, the final round will go off as scheduled with the first tee times at 8:00 a.m. at Bartram Trail Golf Club. The final groups will go off around 10 a.m.
