A jam packed leaderboard after the opening round of the Vaughn Taylor Championship

North Augusta, SC– Five young men fired opening rounds 71 to share the lead after day one of the Vaughn Taylor Championship.

Austin Scott (Charleston, SC), Chase Kyes (Birmingham, Al), Collins Trolio (West Point, Ms), Alexander Hall (Longwood, Fl), and Samuel Dykema (West Chicago, Il), all carded their one under rounds at Mount Vintage Golf Club.

Scott eagled his third hole of the day to highlight his round. Kyes made a pair of  birdies and three bogeys while Trolio had a string of four straight birdies on the front nine before settling for his 71.  Hall’ scorecard featured four birdies while Dykema may have been the most consistant with a pair of birdies and just one bogey.

Three other golfers are a shot back with another trio sitting two shots off the lead.

For the girls, Emma Chen of Derwood, Md had an up and down round but finished at two over, good enough for a one shot lead.

Izzy Pellot (Altemonte Springs, Fl) and Elizabeth Tucci (New Market, Md) are two sots off the pace.

Sunday’s final round will once again utilize split tees with the first group going off at 8AM
